Pinto Wins High Jump at Princeton; Sets School Record

RESULTS

PRINCETON, N.J. (February 23, 2014)
– The Stevens Institute of Technology men's indoor track & field team competed at the Princeton University Indoor Invitational on Sunday. No team scoring was tallied at the meet.

Junior Robert Pinto (Staten Island, N.Y.) topped the field in the high jump with a mark of 2.08 meters (6 feet, 9.75 inches). Pinto set a personal best school record in the event and ranks fifth in NCAA Division III. He cleared 2.08 meters in his first attempt.

Pinto also enrolled in the long jump and finished sixth with a leap of 6.49 meters (21' 3.5").

Senior Louis Stengel (Vernon, N.J.) placed second in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:37.61 which was just 1.2 seconds from first. Freshman Michael John (Nottingham, N.J.) followed behind Stengel in third with a time of 2:38.56, while sophomore Zach McKeehan (Mount Union, Pa.) took fifth in 2:42.89.

Senior Joel Oquendo (North Bergen, N.J.) recorded a mark of 14.23 meters (46' 8.25") to place fourth. Sophomore Troy Kanaszka (Metuchen, N.J.) came in sixth in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:00.23

Stevens is back in action on February 26 at the Monmouth University Twilight Meet which begins at 5:00 p.m.
