Moose and Giles Named ECAC Player of the Week

Houghton senior Kristen Moose and Nazareth senior Jack Giles have been named the Corvias ECAC Basketball Players of the Week for the seven-day period that concluded Feb. 2. 

Moose averaged 29 points, 10.5 rebounds and five assists in a 1-1 week for Houghton. The senior shot 55.9 percent (19-of-34) from the field, 68.8 (11-of-16) from the arc and 75.0 (9-of-12) from the charity stripe over the course of the two games. She scored a career-high 33 points and hit a career-high seven three-pointers in the win over Alfred on Tuesday night. And then she netted 25 points, grabbed 11 boards and dished out seven assists on Friday against Elmira. 

Giles averaged 29 points and shot 63.8 percent from the field as Nazareth won two of three Empire 8 Conference games last week. He set a school record by going 13-for-13 from the field for a career-high 38 points in an 87-84 win over St. John Fisher last Tuesday. He then scored a game-high 31 points in an 82-72 road win over Hartwick Friday, before completing the week with 18 points in a 73-69 loss at Stevens Saturday. In the three games, Giles shot 30-for-47 from the field (.638), including 12-for-20 (.600) from three-point range, and 15-for-18 (.833) from the free throw line. He also had nine rebounds and nine assists.
