Graves & Scheemaker Register Praise from ECAC
Ithaca College juniors
Harmony Graves (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) and
Emilia Scheemaker (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) led the Ithaca College women's track & field team to victory Saturday at the Empire 8 Indoor Championships at Glazer Arena. Graves was selected Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference Upstate Track Athlete of the Week and Scheemaker earned field athlete of the week nods.
Graves tallied Empire 8 Track Athlete of the Meet accolades for the second straight year. Individually, she won the 200-meter dash in 26.23 and placed second in the 60 dash with an 8.03 finish. Graves also ran the lead-off leg of the Bombers' victorious 4x400 relay of 4:08.89. All three performances met ECAC qualifiers.
Scheemaker was named field athlete of the meet Saturday after claiming gold in the long and triple jumps. She recorded marks of 5.50 meters in the long and 12.07 meters in the triple, a Glazer Arena and an E8 indoor championship record, to meet a pair of ECAC standards.
The conference victory was Ithaca's seventh consecutive indoor title. It has won the crown 10 of the 11 times it has been contested.
The Bombers return to action Friday, Feb. 7 hosting the Bomber Quad at 5:30 p.m. Part of the squad will also compete Feb. 7-8 at Boston University's Valentine Invitational.
