Scott Continues Strong to Lead UC T&F at Brockport

Brockport, NY (2-8-14) – The Utica College men's track and field teams competed Saturday at the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by The College at Brockport. The competition was an individual exhibition with no team scoring.

The Pioneers will have two more exhibition meets before post-season play begins. UC heads back to Clinton, NY next Saturday, Feb. 15th for the Hamilton Invite (11 a.m.) at the Margaret Scott Bundy Field House before traveling to Rochester, NY on Friday, Feb. 21st for the Orange and Brown Invitational hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology (4 p.m.) at the Gordon Field House.

Freshman standout Rayshawn Scott (Mays Landing, NJ/Buena Regional) continued his impressive first-year campaign with a victory in the triple jump soaring 13.61 meters. He currently ranks 10th nationally on the NCAA Division III Indoor Qualifying List (14.14m).

Freshman Nicodemus Gambill (Rochester, NY/East High) placed second in the 60-meter dash with a clock of 7.29 and also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.41 while junior Corey Zlatniski (Mattituck, NY/Mattituck) ran to a fourth place finish in the 500-meter dash with a final time of 1:08.10.

Gambill partnered up with seniors Shane Ruffing (Rochester, NY/Westborough), Trevor Gibson (Youngstown, OH/Springfield) and junior Andrew Hoover (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) in the 4x200-meter relay tallying second place with a time of 1:33.89, falling short of the win by less than a second.

Post-season play opens up at the end of February when Utica heads to St. Lawrence University for the 2014 NYSCTC Championships. The two-day event runs Friday, Feb. 28th through Saturday, March 1st and will be held at the Newell Field House in Canton, NY. Friday's events kick off at 3 p.m. while Saturday's are set for 10 a.m.
