Day One Results from NYSCTC Championships
Empire 8 track and field teams turned in several school record performances on the first day of the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Championship (NYSCTC) Friday in Potsdam, N.Y.

On Friday, AU senior
Mykel Ferguson stood in fourth place after the first four events of the heptathlon. He ran a 7.45 second 60-meter dash and had a 5.72-meter long jump, a 10.88-medter shot put, and a 1.78-meter high jump. Ferguson, seeded 12
th in the heptathlon coming into the meet, will compete in the 60-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000-meter run on Saturday.

The Bombers' distance medley relay of junior

Sean Phillips clocked an ECAC-qualifying time of 10:22.82 to win the event.

Sawyer Hitchcock crossed the finish line of the 5,000-meter run in ECAC-qualifying fashion. Gomez placed third in 15:17.49 and Hitchcock sixth in 15:19.74.

Jeff Hejna finished as runner-up in the event with an ECAC-qualifying time of 1:31.85.

De'Marquis Graves placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.44 meters and senior
Brennan Edmonds sixth with a leap of 6.35 meters.

Jarrod Monacelli finished sixth in the pole vault with a clear of 4.10 meters.
NAZARETH

Brandon Vuolo and the distance medley relay, consisting of senior
Jake Lafaver, freshman
Jacob Murray, and seniors
Zack Lafaver and
Matt Fedrizzi, set school records at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Championship meet, hosted by St. Lawrence. Vuolo placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 13.68 meters (44 ft., 10 3/4 in.). It broke Vuolo's February 23rd, 2013 record of 13.16 meters. The DMR relay edged the six-year record by .17 seconds as they finished in 10:32.97.
ST. JOHN FISHER
Devin Cornelius continued to show his versatility, as the Deansboro native currently sits in first in the heptathlon. Cornelius captured first place in the 60 m dash after crossing the timeline in 7.19. He also took the top spot in the shot put after a throw of 12.01 meters, nearly a full meter more than the second place finisher. The sophomore also earned a second place nod in the long jump with a final distance of 6.15 m before claiming yet another first-place finish in the high jump after clearing 1.87 m.
Cornelius will look to continue his dominance tomorrow when he competes in the remaining three events of the heptathlon.
Kyle Koehler was at his best Friday as well after setting a new program record in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying mark of 15.07 meters – good for second place overall.
Eric Riley excelled in the long jump after beating out 14 competitors for a fourth place finish with a mark of 6.54 meters.
The Cardinals also qualified for the 60 meter hurdles final tomorrow as
Will Sterriker posted the fourth-best heat after finishing in 8.88.
Sterriker later teamed up with
Justin Rodriguez,
Joe D'Agostino and
Trevor Wilkes in the 4x200 relay for a sixth place finish and an ECAC qualifying time of 1:33.32.
UTICA
Freshman
Sam Bonk grabbed three points in the shot put with a toss of 13.75 meters placing sixth.

Sam Anderson presently sits in fourth place with an ECAC qualifying of time 10:32.53.
