The Empire 8 Athletic Conference will be sending seven women’s track and field student-athletes to the NCAA Indoor Championships hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan at Nebraska Saturday, March 15.

Stevens Institute of Technology sophomore Amy Regan is the lone E8 athlete to qualify for two events. She is ranked third in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:55.59, ten seconds behind the top qualifier, and she is seeded ninth in the 3,000 meter run (9:47.59). Regan qualified last year for the 2013 outdoor meet in the 5,000 meter and placed tenth and most recently earned All-America honors in cross country during the fall with a sixth place showing at the national race.

Ithaca junior Emilia Scheemaker returns to the NCAA Championships for the third time. She competed in the indoor and outdoor triple jump as a sophomore. Scheemaker will compete in the triple on Saturday at 10 a.m. She recorded a school-record setting performance of 12.25 meters on Jan. 25, the top performance in the nation.

Sophomore Sarah Wiatr has become Utica’s first national qualifier and will be competing in the triple jump. She is currently ranked 12th with a career-best jump of 11.51 recorded at the Golden Eagle Invite, back on Feb. 8th.

Ithaca freshman Natalie Meyer's will be making her first trip to the national meet. She will be competing in the high jump Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Meyer's season-best clear of 1.70 meters is tied for the fourth-best performance in the nation this season.

Stevens sophomore Gladys Njoku and junior Amira Dardir will join Meyer in the high jump event. Njoku is tied for the top seed with a cleared height of 1.74 meters, which she hit at the ECAC Championships last weekend. Dardir is tied with five other athletes who have cleared 1.69 meters.

Nazareth sophomore Taylor Pierson will be making her third NCAA appearance in the long jump. She competed in the indoor and outdoor long jump as a freshman and recently qualified with the fifth best mark in the 17-athlete field with a leap of 5.73 meters. She shattered her own school record at the RIT Invitational, as her distance was more than eight inches farther than her previous best.
