ORLANDO, Fla. (March 10, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team opened up their spring break trip with a 7-2 loss to St. Lawrence College on Monday.

The loss drops Stevens to 0-1 in the spring portion of their schedule (8-4 overall) while St. Lawrence moved to 4-0.

The Ducks fell behind 2-1 after the doubles matches, as Georgia Comber and Anna Young, and Sami Miller and Olivia Arroyo knocked off the Stevens doubles teams of freshman Alexis Connor and sophomore Julia Guignard, and freshman Allie Masciana and junior Danielle Stewart. Junior Jessica Bourque and senior Lisa Tessitore picked-up the team's only win at No.1, 8-1.

Bourgue got the win at No. 1 singles over Elkie Vandenbeemt, but Stevens dropped the remainder of the matches. The Ducks failed to win a set in either of the five singles losses.

Stevens will be off on Tuesday before returning to action on Wednesday against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 10:30 a.m.
