Ithaca 6, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 2
The Ithaca College baseball team evened its record at 3-3 on the season with a 6-2 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Tuesday at Arce Field in Claremont, Calif. It was Ithaca's first victory of its week in California. The Bombers will wrap the trip with games Wednesday at Occidental and Thursday at California Lutheran.

Senior starting pitcher John Prendergast picked up his second win in as many starts this season with seven effective innings on the mound. Prendergast allowed just six hits and one earned run over his seven innings, with nine strikeouts and just one walk. Jimmy Wagner came in to pitch the final two innings and yielded one run on two hits with two strikeouts.

Ithaca got on the scoreboard in the top of the first when Tim Henry scored on an RBI single by Colby Gee. Henry started the rally with a two-out double to center field and advanced to third on an error by the centerfielder. Gee followed with his RBI hit.

Two more runs came across for Ithaca in the top of the fourth as Gee led off the inning with a single, and moved to second when Trevor Thompson walked. Stephen Yanchus added an infield single to load the bases with nobody out and Christian Brown delivered a sacrifice fly RBI to left field to bring in Gee. With two outs in the inning, John Stanley singled to right field to bring in Thompson.

C-M-S got one run back in the fifth, their only damage against Prendergast, but the Bombers responded with a run in the top of the sixth on an RBI double by Cooper Belyea that brought home Luke Stark.

Ithaca added two insurance runs in the eighth. The first run came on a bases-loaded double-play ball then Henry singles with two outs to bring home Belyea.

Henry led Ithaca with a three-hit afternoon for the Bombers with an RBI and run scored. Stanley, Gee, Thompson and Belyea all had two hits each in Ithaca's 13-hit effort. The doubles from Henry and Belyea were Ithaca's only extra-base hits.
