Stevens Wins at Doubles; Ithaca Blanks PS-Harrisburg

The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team dropped their spring break finale 6-3 to Haverford College on Thursday.
Stevens took the 2-1 lead after the doubles matches thanks to junior Jessica Bourque and senior Lisa Tessitore's win at No.1 over senior Alex Ferrara and junior Caitlin Gallagher. Freshman Alexis Connor and junior Danielle Stewart earned another point for the Ducks at No. 2 in an 8-5 win over sophomore Robyn Himelstein and senior Kate Donches.
After missing out on the sweep at No. 3, Haverford took control of the match winning five of the six singles matches including 6-0, 6-0 wins in the final three pairings. Bourque picked up the Ducks only point at No. 1 in a 6-4, 6-1 win over Gallagher.
Haverford used its experience with senior Kate Donches winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 against sophomore Julia Guignard, and at No. 6 with junior Kristin Andersen's 6-0, 6-0 win over freshman Lily Bruenjes.
Ithaca 9, Penn-State Harrisburg 0
The Ithaca College women's tennis team quickly disposed of Penn State-Harrisburg in a 9-0 dual-match victory for Ithaca on Thursday at Hilton Head Middle School. The Bombers dropped just five games over the three doubles matches and won four of the singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 finals.
Penn State-Harrisburg is coached by Ithaca College alum Becky Cecere, who played tennis under coach Iris Carnell. She currently serves as national chair of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Committee.
Haley Kusak and Carly Siegel won at first doubles and each won their singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Sydney Greenspan and Allison Vizgaitis each won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. Vizgaitis partnered with Alyssa Steinweis to win 8-2 at second doubles. Kelly Fishback and Maddie Overholtwere 8-0 winners at third doubles. Ithaca's other victorious singles players were Jodi Grosberg andChessa Mehlman.
