Nationally-Ranked Cardinals Finish Third at Jekyll Island

The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's golf team earned a hard-fought third place finish after posting a combined 54-hole score of 881 (+17) at the Jekyll Island Invitational in Jekyll Island, GA.  Illinois Wesleyan captured the title after notching a team score of 870 (+6).
 
One of the top tournaments in the country, the Jekyll Island Invitational featured seven teams ranked in the top 10 and 22 teams ranked in the top 55 in Division III.
 
Chris Blyth finished the weekend in a tie for ninth place after shooting even par for the tournament.  Blyth holed three birdies in the final round giving him a score of 72 (E).
 
Joe Feeney was the only Cardinal to score under par after completing a bogey-free final round with a score of 71 (-1).  The Webster native climbed 19 spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 17th place overall.
 
Ryan McGinnis secured a 29th place finish after a final round 76, while Thad Wier tied for 40th place.
 
The No. 5 Cardinals will return to action on March 29 when they travels to Westminster, MD. for the McDaniel Spring Invitational which will be played at the Bridges Golf Course.
