Cardinals Within Four Strokes of Lead After 36 Holes
Ryan McGinnis shot a team-best 70 on the second day of the Jekyyl Island Invitational on Saturday, as the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's golf team jumped two spots to hold third place with an overall score of 586 (+10) after 36 holes. The No. 5 Cardinals currently sit four strokes behind the overall leader, Illinois Wesleyan.
McGinnis tallied back-to-back birdies and five overall as the Chittenango native posted one of the day's lowest scores at -2.
Chris Blyth sits in a tie for 13th place after shooting a 74 on day two, leaving him at one over par after 36 holes, while
Thad Wier continued his steady play after notching a 75 to put him at +5 overall.
Hogan Cuny made his way up the leaderboard after starting off the day with three-straight birdies. The freshman finished the round with a score of 74 to move to +6 overall.
The winning team will be decided tomorrow when the Cardinals play 18 holes with an opportunity to take home one of the most prestigious titles in Division III.
