Houghton Falls 5-4 to D'Youville

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Houghton men's tennis just missed out on a win at D'Youville, falling 5-4 in an exciting afternoon of tennis.

Brennen Campbell and Matt James lost in first doubles (3-8), Chase Rangel and Dan Hammers won second doubles (8-6), while Nate Aston and Karl Mansfield lost third doubles (4-8).

In singles matches, Campbell lost (3-6, 5-7), James lost (2-6, 1-6), Rangel won (6-3, 3-6, 6-1), Hammers won (6-3, 6-1), Jacob Hertzler lost (0-6, 3-6) and Aston won (5-7, 6-1, 6-1).

The matches were tied at four apiece as Campbell battled in the final match. The junior took his opponent to 14 match points before succumbing 5-7 in the second set.

Houghton (0-4) returns to action Saturday, March 22 at Penn State-Behrend at 1 p.m. in Erie, Pa.
