Clermont, FL (3/16/14)- The Utica College softball team dropped its first two games on its opening day at the DOT Richardson Spring Games.  UC fell to Babson 10-0 in the season-opener, before falling 7-1 to Benedictine University.

It was the pitchers who provided the offense for the Pioneers today as sophomores Erica Colucci (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Abby Monroe (Watertown, NY/General Brown) totaled two of Utica's three hits on the day.  Freshman Emily LaSalle (Onieda, NY/Onieda) also had a hit for UC.

Colucci had two strikeouts in the first game, while Monroe allowed four earned runs in her first start of the season.

The Pioneers look to turn things around on Monday as they take on Worcester State and Keene State at 5 and 7 p.m. respectively.
