D3hoops.com All-Region Honors Announced
Elmira guard Jessica Zoltowski has been named to the
D3hoops.com All-East Region first team, while Ithaca guard Mary Kate Tierney and Hartwick forward Brittney Dumas were named to the second team. Ithaca’s Dan Raymond was named the Coach the Year in the region.
Zoltowski put up career numbers for Elmira as she averaged 21.1 points per game. She started every game in 2013-14 and scored in double figures on every occasion. Zoltowski broke Elmira’s single-season scoring record with 549 points and set the all-time career scoring record with 1,631 points.
Tierney led Ithaca with 13.7 points per game, 8.5 rebounds, 48 steals and 31 blocks. She shot 86.2 percent from the free throw line and a 43.1 from three-point range. She broke the record for three-pointers in a season with 72.
Dumas averaged 16.5 points and 10.9 rebounds while playing in all 28 games for Hartwick. She shot 45% (192-for-423) from the floor, totaled 24 blocked shots and tallied 18 double-double games.
Raymond led the Bombers to a record-setting season. Ithaca advanced to the NCAA Sectional Finals for the first time in program history, after its third appearance in the Sweet 16. The Bombers won their first sectional semifinal in program history on Friday, outlasting Amherst 74-71 in overtime at Tufts. Ithaca, who finished the season with a 26-5 record, fell to the host Jumbos, 61-59, on Saturday narrowly missing a trip to the Final Four. The Bombers' 26 wins were the second most in school history, highlighted by a school record 18-win streak from Jan. 10 to March 14. Ithaca won its third straight Empire 8 Championship Tournament title to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th time under Raymond.
Raymond recorded his 300th overall victory this season and improved his coaching record at Ithaca to 291-102. His career total stands at 307-113. Raymond has tallied 10 20-win seasons in 14 years at Ithaca, including five straight.
