Suderley and Ford Named to NABC East All-District First Team
KANSAS CITY, MO- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the
2014 NABC Coaches' Division III All-District team. Hartwick senior forward
Jared Suderley and Nazareth senior forward Brad Ford were selected to the East first team.
Suderley enjoyed his best season in a Hartwick uniform as he had career bests in scoring (20.4/gm.) and in rebounds (10.7/gm.). His 570 points scored this season is the fifth-best in Hawks' history and his 300 rebounds are the seventh-best. Suderley had 14 games scoring 20 points or more and had a season-best 36 points against Houghton on January 18. In that game, he was a perfect 21-of-21 from the free-throw line and was just four free throws short of setting the 'Wick record for most made in a game.
For his efforts, Suderley was named the Empire 8 Player of the Year and led the Hawks to the Empire 8 Tournament. Suderley is Hartwick's all-time scorer (2,034) and rebounder (920).
Ford closed out a brilliant four-year career as he finished as the Golden Flyers' leading scorer (18.8 ppg.) and rebounder (10.2 rpg.). He finished sixth all-time in points scored with 1,519 and second in rebounding with 944. He recorded 15 double-doubles (points-rebounds) this season on his way to becoming a first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star. He also was chosen as a first-team Division III Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Located in Kansas City, MO, the NABC was founded in 1927 by Forest "Phog" Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches.
