Ithaca's Raymond Earns WBCA Victory Club Award for Hitting 300-Win Threshold
ATLANTA, Ga. – Ithaca College's
Dan Raymond is one of 39 head women's basketball coaches nationwide to receive the 2014 Russell Athletic/Women's Basketball Coaches Association
Victory Club Award announced Tuesday.
Raymond recorded his 300th overall victory this season and improved his coaching record at Ithaca to 291-102 over the course of 14 seasons. His career total stands at 307-113 over 15 seasons. Raymond has tallied 10 20-win seasons at Ithaca, including five straight. He was named D3Hoops.com East Region Coach of the Year Monday for the third straight season.
Raymond led the Bombers to a record-setting 2013-14 season. Ithaca advanced to the NCAA Sectional Finals for the first time in program history, after its third appearance in the Sweet 16. The Bombers won their first sectional semifinal in program history on Friday, outlasting Amherst 74-71 in overtime at Tufts. Ithaca, who finished the season with a 26-5 record, fell to the host Jumbos, 61-59, on Saturday narrowly missing a trip to the Final Four. The Bombers' 26 wins were the second most in school history, highlighted by a school-record 18-win streak from Jan. 10 to March 14. Ithaca won its third straight Empire 8 Championship Tournament title to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th time under Raymond.
The Russell Athletic/WBCA Victory Club Award is presented annually to each WBCA-member head coach who achieves career wins of 200, 300, 400, 500 or more, in 100-victory increments, during the current season.
The coaches will be formally recognized during the fourth-annual WBCA Awards Show, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. CT Monday, April 7, in the Omni Nashville Hotel's Broadway Ballroom. This event is part of the WBCA National Convention and is held in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Women's Final Four.
