Elmira Falls To Rochester At Home

Elmira, NY—The Elmira College women's lacrosse team (2-2) fell 14-4 to the University of Rochester (3-0) today. The Soaring Eagles were led by
Moorea Spoljaric '16 who scored two goals while
LeAnna Presler '14 stopped a career high 20 shots in today's action.
The Yellowjackets found the back of the net first just 2:39 into the game. EC responded 2:57 later when Spoljaric ran 20 yards through a line Rochester defenders to score an unassisted goal, evening up the game up at 1-1. The Yellowjackets then scored four unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead over Elmira.
Rebecca Matturro '14 made it 5-2 after taking the ball around the net, making a spin move to evade a defender, and shooting the ball past the Rochester netminder with 4:09 left in the first half. The Yellow jackets upped the lead to 6-2 just three minutes later. With just 17 seconds left in the first half, Spoljaric scored her second unassisted goal of the night to trail Rochester, 3-6.
The Yellowjackets took control of the game in the second half as Rochester scored six unanswered goals to take a 12-3 lead over the Purple and Gold. In her first game this season,
Ashton Hogan '15 scored her first goal of the season with 15:11 left in the second half, cutting the Yellowjackets' lead to 12-4. Rochester's offense proved too much for the Soaring Eagles as they finished the game with two more goals.
The Soaring Eagles will be back in action this Friday, March 21
st when the Purple and Gold host Buffalo State. The game is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
