Swarthmore knocks off No. 27 Men’s Tennis

SWARTHMORE, Pa. (March 1, 2014)- The Stevens Institute of Technology No. 27 men's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 match to Swarthmore College Saturday afternoon.

 

The loss drops Stevens to 1-2, while Swarthmore moved to 2-0.

 

The Ducks took a 2-1 advantage to start the match when the doubles combos of freshman Antonio Perich and sophomore Ben Foran, and sophomore Matthew Heinrich and freshman Charles Drake both won their matches 8-6 and 8-4 respectivly.

 

Heinrich also won his match at No. 1 singles against senior Anthony Collard, as did freshman Michael Feldman at No. 4. The match came down to No. 6 where freshman Brett Derrington was ousted by Swarthmore senior Christian Carcione 6-1, 6-4.

 

The Ducks are back in action tomorrow afternoon against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 12:30 p.m. in East Brunswick, N.J.
