Rush, Wiktorski Land On D3baseball.com's Team Of The Week
Brad Rush and
Cody Wiktorski of the St. John Fisher College baseball team both landed on D3baseball.com's Team of the Week after leading the Cardinals to a 4-0 weekend, extending the nation's longest winning streak to 11 straight games.
Wiktorski's performance stands out above a team that collectively averages .380 on the season with an enormous week, going 8-for-14 (.571) with a double, triple, and five RBI. The sophomore and Penfield native was a single away from the cycle versus Haverford on Saturday afternoon on the same day he notched his first two career home runs. Wiktorski had a .600 on base percentage, and was also 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts for the week.
Rush also enjoyed a stellar week for the Cardinals after going 7-for-14 (.500) with four doubles and four RBI. The Albion native had a .632 on base percentage for the week, which was capped off by a game-winning, two-out, 3-RBI double that cleared the bases in the top of the eighth to surge the Cardinals past the Widener Pride on Sunday afternoon.
Fisher's two corner infielders lead a team that is enjoying its best start in program history, where the Cardinals are off to a 12-1 start and ranked higher than ever before. The Cardinals are currently ranked 20th in the nation by the ABCA Coach's Poll and 22nd by D3baseball.com.
Fisher is slated to return to the diamond at 3 p.m. on Thursday with a single nine-inning matchup versus the D'Youville College Spartans.
