Stevens Participates at Monmouth University Invitational

RESULTS
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (March 29, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed at the Monmouth University Invitational this weekend in a non-scoring meet between all three NCAA Divisions and unattached runners.
The majority of Monmouth's meet was broken into sections or flights depending on the event and no finals events were conducted.
On the men's side, freshman
Nicholas Zickgraf (Kenilworth, N.J.) took first in section four of the 1,500-meter race with a time of 4:09.74. Sophomore
Zach McKeehan (Mount Union, Pa.) was fifth in section five with a time of 4:21.06, while freshman
Tyler Reed (Hamilton, N.J.) placed fourth in section six in 4:27.51.
In the 800-meter race, freshman
Michael John (Nottingham, N.J.) came in second overall in section four with a time of 2:00.77. Freshman
Michael Reilly (Westfield, N.J.) ran a time of 2:14.13 to place fifth in section eight, while classmate
Michael Guglielmo (West Nyack, N.Y.) crossed in fourth at 2:18.17 in section nine.
Senior
Walter Goodwin (Floral Park, N.Y.) posted the best time for Stevens in the 200-meter dash at 24.60 seconds for fifth in section seven.
Junior
Robert Pinto (Staten Island, N.Y.) placed second overall in the high jump with a cleared bar of 2.00 meters, while freshman
Cody Yersin (Colts Neck, N.J.) placed fourth, flight one, in the hammer throw with a distance of 26.40 meters to account for Stevens' field events.
For the women, sophomore
Gladys Njoku (Cedar Grove, N.J.) set a new school record in the high jump with a mark of 1.70 meters to take second overall. Junior
Amira Dardir (Jersey City, N.J.) tied for third in the event with a cleared height of 1.65 meters.
Dardir also ran in the 200-meter dash in a time of 17.02 seconds which was good for second in section three.
Senior
Kelly Freed (Rutherford, N.J.) won section three of the 1,500 in a time of 5:01.90 and junior
Christine Hecker (South Hampton, N.J.) placed fourth in section four with a time of 5:17.61.
In the 400-meter dash, freshman
Melissa Gibbons (Oradell, N.J.) clocked in at 1:06.16 to place fourth in section five, while sophomore
Sarah Zahran (Southbury, Conn.) placed second in section seven at 1:07.62.
Stevens heads to the Ramapo College Invitational on April 4 and 5 for its next meet.
