St. John Fisher 20, Roanoke 15
The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team used a 7-0 run over a 15-minute span to defeat Roanoke College 20-15 on Tuesday in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

With the win, Fisher, ranked No. 15 in the latest national coaches poll, improves to 2-0, while Roanoke, who was coming off a win over No. 16 Christopher Newport University, falls to 1-2.
 
The opening 20 minutes were evenly-match to say the least.  The game was tied at 2s, 3s, 4s and 6s with both teams taking the lead on two different occasions.

The Maroon led 7-6 with just under six minutes left in the first half, but the Cardinals closed out the period with four straight goals to take a 10-7 lead at the break.  Freshman Jordan Johnson paced the Cardinals in the first half, tallying a career-high five assists.

Fisher picked up in the second half right where it left off, scoring the first three goals to take a 13-7 lead just over eight minutes into the final frame.

Roanoke scored the next two goals to pull within four at 13-9 with 20:34 remaining, but Fisher responded scoring five of the game's next six goals over a 10-minute span to pull away.

Johnson led the Cardinals with a career-high six points on five assists and one goal.   Sophomore Sierra Badger tallying five points on four goals and one assist (all career-highs).

Senior Taylor Hughes scored four goals as well.   Kristina Lombard totaled four points on one goal and three assists.

Samantha Barton and Erin Ward each scored three goals.  Barton also led Fisher with three draw controls. 

Goalies Caroline Trpcevski and Nicole Hart both played a half.   Trpcevski allowed six goals in the first half, while Hart made five saves in the second period.



Oneonta 17, Hartwick 6
Hartwick played local rival SUNY Oneonta to a 2-2 deadlock over through the opening 12 minutes but the Red Dragons would use a nine-goal run over the next 23 minutes in a 17-6 victory at Wright Stadium Tuesday evening. The loss was the first for the Hawks (2-1) in 2014. Oneonta, ranked 17th in the latest IWLCA national poll, improves to 4-0.

Senior Ali Sisco (Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) and junior Lisa Littleton (Yorktown, NY/Yorktown) scored for the Hawks in the early going but Kiera McNally, who finished the day with a game-high five goals, would score three of four Red Dragon goals in a 12 and a half minute span and Oneonta led at halftime 9-2.

Two tallies eighteen seconds apart early in the second half grew the advantage to nine until Emily Jweid (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) answered for 'Wick on a free-position shot at 22:45. Oneonta gained one back but Kia Ference (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) scored on an eight-meter effort to trim the deficit to eight once again.

Oneonta would answer as Catherine Clark netted two of three straight Red Dragons goals in a 1:32 span to put the visitors up 15-4. After close to five minutes, Meg Luce (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) and Ference scored goals to bring the Hawks' total to six, but Oneonta registered the final two goals in the last 1:56 for the final score line.

Junior defender Caroline Stanford (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles) registered a game-high four caused turnovers and a team-best six ground balls for Hartwick. Mandy Van Auken (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) and goalie Steph Luce (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) each grabbed four ground balls and Kiersten Racela (Latham, NY/Shaker) contributed three. Meagan Wright (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) had the team-high in draws with four.

Clark finished with three goals for the Red Dragons. Nikki Fioretti and Nicole Boylan each would score two. Stefanie Rodriguez earned a game-high eight ground balls.

The visitors held a 40-14 edge in shots. They also secured 36 ground balls to the Hawks' 24. 'Wick had more draws in the game by a margin of 14-11.

In goal, Steph Luce came away with 10 saves. Amanda Reichardt (4) and Laura Grose (3) combined for seven saves in the Oneonta cage.
