Stevens Jumps Out To Lead Early, Beats Haverford 6-3

HAVERFORD, Pa. (March 5, 2014) - The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team won four of their first five matches on Wednesday, as they rolled to a 6-3 win over Haverford College.

 

The win moves Stevens to 2-3, while Haverford drops to 0-1.

 

Freshman Charles Drake and sophomore Matthew Heinrich got the Ducks going with an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Then after dropping No. 3, sophomore Ben Foran and freshman Antonio Perich picked-up the 8-6 win at No.1 to give Stevens the 2-1 edge going into singles.

 

Heinrich swept at No. 1 over sophomore Luis Acaba, followed by 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 for Foran over sophomore Zack Mason. The Ducks then dropped No. 4, but clinched the match at No. 3 with Michael Feldman's 7-5, 6-4 win. Sophomore Tyler Tisale won his first match of the year at No. 6

 

Next up for the Ducks is a trip to California where they'll take on three top-20 teams from March 8-13.
