The St. John Fisher College softball team defeated Cedar Crest College 10-0 in five innings to open the day with a win before falling in six innings, 2-0, to Bluffton University which was called after six innings due to lightning.

With the split Fisher moves to 4-2 overall.

Game 1: Fisher 10, Cedar Crest 0

Fisher wasted no time getting on the board scoring three runs in both the first and second innings to jump out to a 6-0 lead.  In the first inning Lauren Owens brought home Jennifer Knaak from second base on a double to right field.  Jessica D'Angelo kept the momentum going at the plate with an RBI single. D'Angelo advanced to third on consecutive passed balls before Samantha Poules pushed her home for the final run of the inning.

The Cardinals rallied with two outs in the second inning to score three more runs.  Knaak found a gap in right center field to move Meghan Burns around.  Olivia Fusilli struck gold three batters later with a two-out single up the middle scoring Knaak and Owens.

After two scoreless innings Fisher's bats came alive again to put the game out of reach.  Christina Sakran ripped a drive into right field making it all the way to third base to earn an RBI.  Burns joined in on the action with runners on second and third as she found the gap in right center for a triple to push the lead to 9-0.  Freshman Alyssa Piparo picked up her first-career RBI to bring Burns home and round out the scoring.

Megan Keib earned her first-collegiate win on the mound pitching three scoreless innings, including five strikeouts.  Halie Schoff pitched two no-hit innings to start the game.

At the plate Burns ended with two RBI and two hits while Fusilli chipped in two RBI on one hit.

Game 2: Bluffton 2, Fisher 0

Chloe Shell pitched a no-hit game through 6 innings before the game was called due to lightning in the area to lift Bluffton University to the victory.

The Beavers scored both of their runs in the fourth inning.  Brittany Baker doubled to left center to pick up two RBI's.  The Cardinals were able to get three straight outs following that hit to escape the inning with just two runs given up, however they were never able to mount a comeback.

Knaak reached first base in the sixth inning on an error from the shortstop but that is the closest the Cardinals would come to a hit in the game.  Genevieve Paeglow, Samantha Poules and Kate Disbrow each drew walks during the game but were left on base.

Fisher will take on Edgewood College at 9 a.m tomorrow followed by Dominican University (Ill.) at 1 p.m.
