Crusaders Win Susquehanna Spring Invitational
Results
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – On a day in which it finally felt like spring, the Susquehanna men’s golf team hosted its annual Susquehanna Spring Invitational which the Crusaders won.
The Susquehanna “A” team won the invitational with a team score of 310 (+30) on the par 70, 6200-yard course. SU’s “B” team was second with a score of 326, followed by Keystone (359), Centenary (362), William Paterson (375) and Hood (377).
Sophomore
Dan Wilson (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) easily won the individual title with his score of 67, good for three under par. He was seven strokes ahead of the runner up from Centenary – Steve Kleumper – who shot a 74.
Teammate
Stephen Welkie (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) – part of the “A” team – shot a 77 to earn third overall while
Ryan Bruvik (Skillman, N.J./The Hun School) and
Donny DeRemer (Shavertown, Pa./Holy Redeemer) each shot an 83 to tie for seventh. From the “B” group,
Dylan Gladd (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia), Kevin Phelan (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte County Day School) and
Matt Schaffner (Cazenovia, N.Y.) all shot 80 to tied for fourth place. Also earning a top-10 finish was
Anthony Canarie (South Portland, Maine/South Portland), whose score of 84 placed him ninth.
Timothy Unkles (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards), part of the “B” grouping, tied for 10
th after shooting an 86 and
Aung Pyae Zone Khant (Yangon, Myanmar/Yangon International School) placed 12
th with an 88.
Susquehanna is back in action on April 3 at Elizabethtown.
