Bombers and Cardinals Combine for 40 Runs
ITHACA v UTICA
The Ithaca College baseball team posted another two-game sweep of Utica College on Sunday. Sunday's games were carried by the offense as Ithaca totaled 10 runs in each game for 10-8 and 10-3 wins. Ithaca is 19-5 on the season and 7-1 in Empire 8 games.
Ithaca 10, Utica 8
In Sunday's opener, Ithaca scored twice in the first inning but then fell behind 3-2 in the top of the third. The Bombers responded with four runs in the bottom of the third and went on to the victory despite a late rally by Utica.
In the bottom of the first,
Tim Henry and
Stephen Yanchus had RBI singles for Ithaca. The third-inning rally saw
Christian Brown score on a wild pitch and two more runs come in on an infield error. Matt Connnolly had a sacrifice-fly RBI to bring home Yanchus with Ithaca's fourth run of the inning. The Bombers added two in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth.
John Prendergast was the beneficiary of the offensive support, as he picked up his seventh win of the season with five strong innings. He allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Chris Anderson and
Jimmy Wagner wrapped up the final two innings, with Wagner coming in to get the final out. He struck out a Utica batter with two runners on base to close out the victory, his fourth save of the year.
Ithaca slugged 12 hits in the game and nine of those came from the top three spots in the lineup as Brown,
Luke Stark and Henry had three hits each.
Stephen Yanchus hit his first career home run in the fifth inning, a solo shot to left field. Henry drove in four runs in the contest.
Ithaca 10, Utica 3
The Bombers closed the weekend with the most lopsided margin of the series behind another strong day at the plate. Ithaca had 13 hits and scored at least one run in five of their eight times at bat. Ithaca built a 2-0 lead with a run in each of the first two innings.
Colby Gee had an RBI triple in the first and
Ryan Henchey had an RBI single in the second inning.
Utica rallied to take a 3-2 lead with a run in the fourth and two in the top of the fifth, but that was all of the scoring they managed in the game. Ithaca regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth with two runs on RBI singles by
John Stanley and Gee. Another run came in the seventh, and Ithaca added five more in the eighth. The eighth-inning was highlighted by Yanchus' second homer of the afternoon and a two-run single for Gee that scored Brown and Henchey.
Logan Barer (1-1) earned the win in relief. He entered with one out in the top of the fifth inning and allowed just one hit and two walks in his 4.2 innings. He had four strikeouts.
David Jasukonis started and allowed three earned runs on four hits in four and a third with four strikeouts and four walks.
Gee was 3-for-5 with a triple and four RBIs. Henchey went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
John Stanley had two hits.
ST. JOHN FISHER v College of Staten Island
The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College baseball team pounded out 32 hits and racked up 28 runs, as the Cardinals took two games at College of Staten Island on Sunday. Fisher won the first game 19-2, and coasted to a 9-3 win in the nightcap. With the two victories, Fisher, ranked 13
th in the national coaches poll and No. 16 in the D3baseball.com poll, improves to 18-2 on the year. The Cardinals will return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday and will host Rochester Institute of Technology.
Game One: Fisher 19, CSI 2
Fisher led 4-1 after four innings, but broke it open late, scoring four in the fifth and sixth innings and seven in the seventh.
Justin D'Amato improved his record to 6-0 on the year and 33-4 for his career. The three-time All-American went six innings, while allowing just three hits and striking out four.
Mike Roman led Fisher's offensive attack, going 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Brad Rush was 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI.
Chris Roeder scored three runs and stole two bases, while
Mike Fahy was 2-for-4.
Nick Flemister drove in three runs, while
Cody Wiktorski was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Joe Simmons and
Tom Kline both singled in two runs.
Calvin Woolhiser was 1-for-1 with a triple, while
Nate Roethel was 1-for-1 with a double.
Chris Dugan and
Malcolm Kelsey also singled in the win.
Game Two: Fisher 9, CSI 3
After a scoreless first inning, the Cardinals took the lead for good with six in the second. Roeder highlighted the inning, with a three-run double and scored after a single from Wiktorski.
Joe Simmons was 3-for-4 in the game with three runs scored, while Flemister was 2-for-4 in the game. Roeder also picked up two hits and tallied four RBI. Roman added a two-run single in the seventh.
Freshman
Marc Iseneker picked up the win, raising his record his record to 4-0 on the year. He allowed just five hits over five innings with two strikeouts.
