Ithaca Drops Pair Of Weekend Duals

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's tennis team returned to action this weekend with a pair of dual matches at New Paltz and The College of New Jersey. On Saturday at New Paltz, the host Hawks defeated Ithaca 6-3. Sunday afternoon at TCNJ, the Lions picked up a 7-2 win over Ithaca. These were Ithaca's first dual matches since its spring trip four weeks ago. Ithaca is 12-5 in dual matches this season and will play next at William Smith on April 24.
 
Ithaca earned all of its team points in singles matches during Saturday's dual against New Paltz. Cristina Nunez was a 7-5, 7-5 winner at first singles, Haley Kusak won 7-6, 6-2 at second singles and Carly Siegel was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at third singles.
 
TCNJ is ranked 18th in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Lions held a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches, with the second doubles team of Cristina Nunez and Alyssa Steinweis winning 8-4. Ithaca's other point came from Kusak, who moved up to first singles and won 7-5, 6-4.
