ITHACA
The Ithaca College women's track & field team competed Saturday at Moravian's Coach P Invitational. The Bombers hit 15 ECAC qualifiers and had 29 top-10 finishes during the meet.
 
Alex Rechen was the runner-up in the pole vault with a clear of 3.50 meters. The clear matched the outdoor school record held by Kristen DeStefano set on May 1, 2010. Shannon Meehan joined Rechen in meeting the ECAC qualifier in the event with a fifth-place finish of 3.35 meters.
 
Emilia Scheemaker won the triple jump and finished third in the long to meet a pair of ECAC qualifiers. She had a mark of 11.68 meters in the triple and 5.37 meters in the long. Christine Benway finished fourth in the long with an ECAC-good mark of 5.31 meters, while Kristen Swanson placed 10th in the triple with a distance of 10.16 meters.
 
Benway raced to an ECAC finish of 15.66 in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries before finishing seventh with a time of 16.14 in the finals.
 
Leigh Martino won the 400 hurdles in 1:05.12, an ECAC qualifier. Julia Jones placed seventh in 1:08.43 and Kassie Moore eighth in 1:08.77.
 
Harmony Graves placed second in the 200 dash with an ECAC-qualifying 25.84 finish.
 
Hannah Wright raced to a fourth-place ECAC finish of 2:19.87 in the 800 run. Emily Smith followed in sixth with a time of 2:21.58 and Anna Fay placed 10th clocking in at 2:22.87.
 
Both of Ithaca's relays met the ECAC standards. The Bombers' 4x400 relay of Eliza Dewart, Graves, Martino and Jones crossed the finish line second in 3:58.54. The 4x100 team comprised of Lizzi Dowling, Dewart, Alex Lewis and Sarah Werner placed fifth with a time of 49.39.
 
Ithaca had nine top-10 finishes in the throws. Brandy Smith placed third and Elaine Abdulky fourth in the discus, both earning bids to the ECAC Championships. Smith threw 37.87 meters and Abdulky 37.79 meters.
 
Abdulky was the first of four to place in the hammer. She had an ECAC-qualifying heave of 44.22 meters to place fourth. Smith was fifth with a toss of 40.55 meters, Kristina Stockburger sixth with a distance of 39.64 meters and Corrine Taylor seventh with a throw of 35.23 meters.
 
Taylor was the runner-up in the shot with a mark of 11.67 meters, an ECAC-good throw. Francesca Boylan placed fourth and Stockburger ninth with heaves of 11.03 and 10.33 meters, respectively.
 
Natalie Meyer cleared 1.57 meters in the high jump to place fifth.
 
Carly Graham, Carolyn Malone and Allison Bartkowiak earned top-10 finishes in the 1,500. Graham ran fifth in 4:50.65, Malone seventh in 5:01.83 and Bartkowiak eighth in 5:02.74.

UTICA
The Utica College men and women track and field teams wrapped up its final competition before the Empire 8 Championships at the Coach P Open hosted by Moravian College over the weekend.

The Pioneers return to action next weekend for the Empire 8 Outdoor Track & Field Championships which are slated for Saturday April 19th.  The championships will be hosted by St. John Fisher College and held at the Polisseni Track & Field Complex in Pittsford, NY.  The events are set to begin at 10 a.m.

Senior's Anastasia Bowden (Monticello, NY/Monticello)Jaimee Balloni (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W.Baker), and Katie Day (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led the Pioneer women on the track. Day placed second in the 3,000 steeplechase (11:41.42) and eighth in the 800 meter (2:22.15).  Bowden finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a clock of 26.16 while Balloni concluded ninth in the 1,500 meter run (5:04.83). 

Freshman Katherine Pearce (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth) broke her own school-record in the high jump registering a leap of 1.57 as she finished in a seven-way tie for fifth place while teamate sophomore Sarah Wiatr (Poland, NY/West Canada Valley) took third place in the triple recording a jump of 11.12 meters.


ALFRED
Junior Miasia Hillman won the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash to help lead the Alfred University women's outdoor track and field team to a ninth-place finish at the Westminster College Invitational.
 
Hillman won the 100-meter race in 12.60 seconds and took the 200-medter dash in 25.70 second to pace the Saxons.
 
Other top performers for AU were: senior Kari Blatz, seventh in the shot put (10.09 meters) and 13th in the discus (30.85 meters); freshman Abby Hampson, 15th in the 1,500-meter run (5:38.24); and junior Elizabeth DeMonte, 15th in the 100-meter hurdles (18.97 seconds).

NAZARETH
Several Golden Flyer Stadium and Nazareth school records were broken Saturday as Nazareth hosted the ROC City Invitational.

Nazareth's efforts were anchored by first-place finishes from juniors Hannah Brackley and Michaela Gildemeyer in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run respectively; from sophomores Gabrielle LeBihan and Taylor Pierson in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the long jump respectively; and from freshman Emily Thompson in the 10,000-meter run. The Golden Flyers also finished first in the 400-meter relay as the foursome of Brackley, Pierson, Amanda Entress and Sibongile Chisi set a school record with a time of :49.60.

Brackley set a stadium record in winning the 400 in :58.39, breaking her own mark set last year. LeBihan shattered the school and stadium records in the steeplechase with a first-place time of 11:20.05 and Pierson broke her own stadium record in the long jump with a leap of 5.71 meters (18 feet, 8 3/4 inches).

Gildemeyer had a personal-best time of 2:16.30 in the 800 and is slightly more than a second shy of the Nazareth school record of 2:14.99 set by Lauren Glaser in 2008. Thompson and three other Nazareth runners -- Jamie DiSalvoBlair Meeson and Kassandra Lathrop -- were the only competitors in the 10,000. Thompson broke the school and stadium records with a time of 38:27.04.

Other top finishes included a second place for freshman Elisa Marchione in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.78); a third place in the 200-meter dash (:26.97) for Brackley, who was followed closely by Pierson, who was fourth in :27.02; fourth places for Chisi in the 100-meter dash (:13.41) and the pole vault (2.85 meters = 9 feet, 4 inches) and a seventh place for sophomore Kenzi Coon in the 400-meter hurdles (1:12.49).


ST. JOHN FISHER
The St. John Fisher College women's outdoor track and field team continued to break records on Saturday as the Cardinals competed in the ROC City Classic hosted by Nazareth College.

Sarah Coon smashed the Fisher record in the 1500 with a time of 5:02.5 only to see her record fall in the very next heat when Sammy Van Gee posted a time of 5:01.5.  Both time qualified the pair for the upcoming NYSCTC championships.

Renee Deruchia also set a new program-best and qualified for ECACs after a second place finish in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 11:57.68.

Allison Corretore placed first overall in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.70, while Noelle Novakowski and Ronni Ehlers finished 15th and 16th, respectively.

The 4x100 relay team of Morgan MastinChelsea ClevelandNicoletta Lattuca and Ehlers will represent Fisher at ECACs after a second place finish in 50.40.  Fisher would also have success in the 4x400 relay as Katilin Rizzo, Sydney Saccone, Cleveland and Mastin placed second overall with a time of 4:10.73.

Lattuca had an impressive performance in the 100 meter dash as well, finishing the event in second place out of 43 competitors with a time of 13.26.  She also finished sixth I the long jump and qualified for ECACs with a leap of 5.28 meters.

Mastin earned a fourth place finish in the 400 meter dash after crossing the finish line in 1:00.49, while Saccone captured 10th place with a time of 1:03.13.

Paige Willson continued to dominate in the field as the junior broke her own Nazareth Stadium record in the shot put with a mark of 12.46 meters.  Willson also qualified for the NYSCTC championships in javelin with a throw of 30.89 meters.

Taylor Youngkrans also won her event, the hammer throw, with a mark of 46.32 meters which broke the school record and qualified for ECACs, while Joanna Vassiliou placed seventh after a heave of 40.52 meters.

Lisa Knaab also competed in the high jump, winning the event and tying the Nazareth Stadium record with an ECAC qualifying leap.
