Oswego, NY -- The Elmira College men's lacrosse team ran into a strong opponent from the SUNY Athletic Conference this afternoon, falling to Oswego State by a 20-11 score. Brady Richards '14 continued his torrid scoring run as he netted a game-high five goals to bring his season total to 27 goals. Richards also added an assist in the contest to lead all scorers with six points.

The Soaring Eagles fell behind early in the first quarter as Oswego scored the game's first four goals. Jackson Correia '14 and Richards then traded goals with the Lakers through the end of the opening quarter as EC trailed 5-2. The second quarter was controlled by Oswego as the Lakers outscored the Purple and Gold by an 8-2 margin, opening up a nine-goal advantage. Oswego scored the first five goals of the quarter before Richards added his second and third goals of the contest. Then, the Lakers ended the quarter with three straight scores to put EC behind 13-4 at the break.

Elmira could not muster up much offense in the third quarter as only recently named Empire 8 Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week David Evert '14 found the back of the net. The Soaring Eagles, however, did respond with a strong fourth quarter, outscoring the Lakers 6-2. Of the six EC goals, Richards scored twice while Evert, Correia, Griffin Foley '17, Brian Conzola '14 each scored once. That output, unfortunately, was not enough to overcome the deficit EC faced as the Purple and Gold would fall 20-11.

The Soaring Eagles return to action on Wednesday, April 16th to resume Empire 8 play with a home matchup against St. John Fisher College. The game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at EC's Campus Field.
