Houghton Suffers Loss to Thiel College
HOUGHTON, N.Y.-- In this evening's matchup against the Tomcats of Thiel College, the Highlanders' Men's Lacrosse team was outdone in groundballs, shots, and goals scored; resulting in a 15-3 loss.
While the Highlanders were scoreless in the first two quarters of the game, the Tomcats managed to open up the game with 6 goals in the first quarter followed by 5 goals in the second quarter.
It wasn't until the third quarter where the Highlanders came alive, scoring on three different occasions. Outscoring the Tomcats 3-1 in the third quarter, there were two different Highlanders that were credited with goals;
Paul Chapman (Kemptville, ON, Canada, North Greenville District) with 2 goals and
Joshua Bailey (Millerton, Pa, Williamson HS) with 1 goal.
By scoring three times in the fourth quarter, the Tomcats earned back the goals they gave up in the previous quarter. The Highlanders were unable to capitalize on any scoring opportunities of the fourth quarter.
The Highlanders were outshot 50-29 and trailed 43-22 in groundballs.
The Men's Lacrosse team (0-12) is back in action tomorrow at 5:00pm where they will play on their own turf against Hartwick College.
