Fisher Extends Lead; Clarke & Cuny Tied for First

Hershey, PA -- The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's golf team stretched its lead to 25 strokes after the third round of the Empire 8 Golf Championship on Friday as the Cardinals shot a combined 296 at the par 71 Hershey Country Club. The winner, which will be crowned on Saturday, will earn the Conference's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Tournament in May.
The No. 8 Cardinals entered the day holding a nine-stroke lead after completing the championship's first two rounds earlier this season and quickly pulled away from the crowd.
Hogan Cuny currently sits in a two-way tie for first place with Elmira junior Evan Clark with a three round total of +12. Cuny shot a 74 (+3) on Friday, while Clark shot his third 75 (+4) of the tournament.

Thad Wier is tied for third place (+13) after 54 holes after completing the third round with a 79 (+8). Wier is tied with Scranton's Erik Meyer who shot a 74 (+3) in the third round.
Corey Haas had a strong afternoon, finishing the round in sole possession of fifth place with a total score of +17, while Scranton's Eric Montella and Stevens Frank Szuca are tied for sixth with a three round total of 233.
Chris Blyth is tied with James Sergeant (Nazareth) and Stephen Welkie (Susquehanna) for eighth place overall with a 234.
The teams will be back on the course tomorrow competiting in the final leg of the Empire 8 Championship Tournament.
