Elmira, Naz and Stevens Net Wins
STEVENS
The Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team leveled its record to 5-5 on the season with a 19-9 Empire 8 Conference victory at Hartwick College on Wednesday afternoon. Stevens has now won four straight games and has claimed each contest by an average of seven goals.
The Ducks jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a man-up goal from senior
Charlie Cronin (Northampton, Mass.) just 1:15 into the game off a pass from junior
Michael Maroon (Virginia Beach, Va). Hartwick then evened the game at 1-1 a minute later before sophomore
Michael Serrante (Bridgewater, N.J.) received a pass from Cronin 24 seconds after to put Stevens back up, 2-1.
Hartwick answered with another first quarter goal at the 9:46 mark only to watch Stevens score again on Cronin's second tally with 8:11 to go in the period. Sophomore
Andrew Scrutchfield (Lewes, Del.) closed out the first with 53 seconds left off Maroon's second assist.
Stevens ran off three straight scores in the second quarter to take a 7-2 edge over the first four minutes. Maroon got things started just 41 seconds into the stanza on an assist from Scrutchfield and then sophomore
Matt Ferentini (South Salem, N.Y.) found the back of the net 28 seconds later. Cronin reached a hat trick at the 11:01 mark of the period to put the Ducks ahead by four scores, which was assisted by senior
Sean Scrudato (Westfield, N.J.).

The Elmira College men's lacrosse team traveled to Houghton College and came away with their first win of the season, defeating the Highlanders by a convincing 23-2 score. Brothers,
Brady Richards '14 and
Myles Richards '17 combined for 11 goals and three assists, both tying their career-highs for goals scored in a game with six and five, respectively.
There were 10 other Soaring Eagles who got into the scoring column with
Dustin Gatt'14 and
Anthony LaRusso'17 the only other multi-goal scorers at two apiece.
Christian Archambeault'14 and newcomer
Griffin Foley each tallied one goal and a game-high five assists while
Jackson Correia'14 returned from his one-game absence to record one goal and three assists.
EC wasted little time scoring the game's first goal of the game as Gatt found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Foley. Gatt's goal would preface a string of six consecutive goals scored by the Richards brothers, four by Brady and two by Myles. Houghton finally got on the scoreboard with 1:14 remaining in the opening quarter, making it a 7-1 game, but
Myles Richards would net his third goal of the quarter to give EC an 8-1 lead after one quarter of play.

ST. JOHN FISHER
The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team started slow and could never recover against one of the nation's top teams, as 10th-ranked Union College downed the Cardinals, 10-7, on Wednesday in Schenectady.
Fisher struggled out of the gate, as Union led 4-0 after the opening quarter.
It was not until the 12:21 mark of the second quarter that Fisher scored its first goal coming from the hands of
Tim Wagner assisted by

After a Union goal to start the third quarter,
Nick Rossi scored his eighth goal of the season to make it 7-2.

ITHACA
The 11th-ranked Ithaca College men's lacrosse team (7-3) suffered an 8-7 overtime heartbreaker to eighth-ranked Cortland (7-3) Wednesday night at Higgins Stadium.
Trailing 7-6, Ithaca freshman
John Januszkiewicz capitalized on a
Pat Slawta feed with 14.1 seconds lingering in the game to knot action and force overtime with the Red Dragons for the second straight year. Cortland, who won just 4-of-19 faceoffs on the night, won the overtime-opening faceoff that proved to be the last of the game. The Red Dragons got off a shot 1:09 into the extra period that sophomore
Scott Sidnam saved with his left arm. Cortland's Matt Rakoczy would net the game-winner 11 seconds later, his 12th score of the season.
The Bombers, who have lost five straight to the local rival, dropped a double-overtime loss to the then top-ranked Red Dragons a season ago, 9-8.
Ithaca held a solid 4-1 lead at the half. The Bombers took a 2-0 lead five minutes in en route to a 3-1 gap at the end of the first. They tallied the only goal of the second. Cortland rattled off four in the third, while shutting out Ithaca, to hold its first edge of the game, 5-4, entering the fourth.
