Elmira Concludes Season with First Place Finish at EC Spring Invitational

Elmira, NY -- In the final event of the 2013-14 season, the Elmira College men's golf team walked away with a first place finish in the Elmira College Spring Invitational with a team score of 323. Elmira's
Evan Clarke '15 took home medalist honors, carding a 76 in today's event.
Clarke's first place finish is his third of the 2013-14 season as well as his third Elmira College Invitational title of his three-year career, winning the event in the spring of 2013 as well as the fall of 2013.
Three strokes off from Clarke was
Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 and
Kyle Hyde '14 who both finished with a 79, good enough to place tied for third. For ten Vaanholt, today's 79 marks the fourth-lowest round of his EC career while Hyde's third place finish gives him four top-five finishes in his collegiate career.
Joseph Ezzo '14 made the most of his final collegiate event as he turned in a score of 80 through 18 holes. Ezzo's 80 ties a career best for the four-year golfer and his fifth place finish is also a career best.
Elmira's final two golfers with top-10 finishes were rookie
Brandon Payne '17 and
Troy Gordon '15. Payne shot an 83 to tie for seventh place, a career best for the first-year standout. Gordon posted an 85 which put him in 10th place, marking the first time in his career that he has recorded a top-10 finish.
Today's Elmira College Spring Invitational marked the final event of the 2013-14 season for the Elmira men. EC concludes the 2013-14 campaign with three first place finishes as well as eight top-five finishes.
