STEVENS v Hunter
The Stevens Institute of Technology softball team outscored Hunter College 15-3 on Tuesday in a doubleheader sweep comprised of a 5-1 win in game one and a 10-2 win in game two.

The wins moved Stevens' record to 25-9 while Hunter dropped to 9-18.

Stevens 5, Hunter 1
Senior pitcher Kayla Berardi retired the side in order in the first and second with three strikeouts before Stevens built its lead in the second. With runners at first and second, senior Danielle DeFeo singled to score one, followed by a single from sophomore Gavriella Risman-Jones to score two more.

Berardi worked around a two-out single in the third before the Ducks rallied again in the bottom of the inning. With freshman Jessica Rees on second after a single and sophomore Sydney Spitz on first, senior Stephanie Senkevich hit an infield single to load the bases. Hunter sophomore hurler Sarah Beck recovered though, striking-out Berardi to end the inning.

Hunter took advantage by adding a run in the fourth off a wild pitch. Stevens failed to answer in the fifth, but put the game away in the sixth with some insurance.

After Risman-Jones singled-home junior Noelle Mulligan with an infield single, junior Jamie DeGennaro ripped a double to right-center to add one more. Hunter rallied with runners at first and third and no-one out in the seventh, but Berardi answered with a strike-out, while DeGennaro threw-out a stealing runner at second then ended the game by picking-off the runner at third.

Risman-Jones led the Ducks offensively with three RBIs off two hits while Berardi struck-out 10 to earn her fourteenth win of the season.

Stevens 10, Hunter 2
Hunter struck first with one run in the top of the first, but Stevens quickly answered with five in their half of the inning. With one run already in, freshman Emily Sellitti doubled-home Risman-Jones to give Stevens a 2-1 edge. Sellitti later scored on a wild pitch before freshman Gina Schnecker walked with the bases-loaded to add another run. Freshman Kelly Klewicki followed by scoring on a wild-pitch to cap the scoring.

Lorenz worked around an infield error to pitch a scoreless second, allowing the Ducks to add to their lead in their half of the second. Sellitti scored on a wild-pitch before senior Stephanie Senkevich singled-home Rees. Mulligan drove in one more with a fielder's choice ground-out, followed by a DeFeo RBI single to increase the lead to eight.

Both teams traded zeroes in the third and fourth before Hunter scored their second run of the game in the fifth, but Stevens came-back with one of their own to end the game. With Risman-Jones on second, Rees crushed an RBI double to left to give the Ducks an eight-run-lead and the win.

In a truly team effort, eight different players drove in a run while Sellitti led all players with three hits. Risman-Jones, Sellitti, Rees, and Klewicki each scored multiple runs while Lorenz picked-up her second win of the season.

ST. JOHN FISHER v U of R
The St. John Fisher College softball team rode pitcher Halie Schoff to a 1-0 victory over the University of Rochester in the first game of a doubleheader before falling 7-1 to the home squad in the nightcap, a game which the Cardinals managed just two hits.

Fisher moves to 19-9 on the season while the YellowJackets improve to 16-10.

Game 1: Fisher 1, U of R 0
Schoff through a gem to open up the doubleheader allowing the host YellowJackets  just one hit in seven in innings for the complete game win.

After neither squad cracked the scoreboard through the first five innings, the Cardinals got on the board to take a 1-0 lead in the sixth.  Lauren Owens got on base to start the inning after being hit by a pitch.  Two batters later Jessie Smyrski singled to right field to push Owens to second and set the stage for Genevieve Paeglow.  The freshman cashed in on the opportunity with a single to score Owens from second base for what would prove to be the game-winning run.

The Yellowjackets had one more opportunity in the seventh after coming up empty in the previous inning.  Nina Korn began the inning with a single, just the second hit in the game, before Schoff retired the next three batters to close out the win.

Smyrski finished 2-for-3 in the game to pace Fisher's offense.

Schoff, who struck out two batters in the game, improves to 10-3 on the season.

Game 2: U of R 7, Fisher 1
After Schoff dominated on the mound in game one, U of R pitcher Eleni Wechsler returned the favor in game two holding Fisher to just two hits in six innings and one unearned run.

Megan Keib pitched the first two innings for Fisher surrendering one earned run and left the game in the third with the Cardinals trailing 2-0.  Lauren Wesolowski pitched the final four innings as the U of R picked up one more run in the inning to lead 3-0.

In the fifth inning Fisher drew to within two on a sacrifice fly from Smyrski to score Meghan BurnsKarlie Neale, who had both of Fisher's hits in the game, singled the batter before to move Burns into scoring position.

The score would remain 3-1 until the YellowJackets broke it open in the sixth inning to seal the 7-3 victory.

Keib suffered her first loss of the season to fall to 4-1.
