Simms Named Men's Golf Coach of the Year; Sportsmen of the Year
St. John Fisher head coach Bob Simms has been voted the Empire 8 Men’s Golf Coach of the Year by the coaches in the league. This marks the fourth straight year Simms has earned the honor.
Fisher won the 13-14 Empire 8 Conference Championship for the ninth time in the last ten years. The Cardinals shot a four-round total of 1,204, beating runner-up finisher University of Scranton by 26 strokes. With the win, Fisher earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
In addition to Simms' honor, one member of each team was named that institution’s representative on the 2013-14 Men’s Golf Sportsman of the Year Team. Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete’s experience in conjunction with an institution’s educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen.
