Li Fires Sizzling 68 To Lead Notheast Elite Tournament After First Round

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Ithaca College women's golf team stands third at the Northeast Elite Invitational, hosted by Williams College, after the opening round. Junior Sharon Li posted a career-best round of 68 to take a six-shot lead in the individual standings.
 
Li made eagles on the 16th and 18th holes to finish with a 3-under-par 68 at Taconic Golf Club, which played to a par-71 over 6,410 yards. Kelsey Baker is tied for 11th after posting 80. Kimberley Wong scored 82, and Lisa Calcasola had 86 to complete Ithaca's team score of 316. Amanda Failla had a 90 to complete the Ithaca scoring.
 
At 316, Ithaca is six strikes behind host Williams, with 310, and Methodist is second with 311. Middlebury is in fourth place (331), Cortland is fifth (337) and Amherst is sixth (346). The three tournament leaders are all ranked in the top-10 of the latest Women's Golf Coaches Association Division III Poll. Middlebury and Amherst each received votes in that poll.
