Six Compete at NYSCTC Heptathlon
Results
Six women's track & field athletes were in competition Monday at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference heptathlon championships at RIT.
The Monday events included the long jump, the javelin throw and the 800-meter run to conclude multi competition after participating in four events each Sunday.
Ithaca ophomore
Kristen Pompey placed second out of 10 competitors to lead Ithaca and earn eight points with a 3,854-point performance. Freshman
Natalie Meyer placed fifth in the event with a 3,671-point showing and classmate
Paige Agnew was eighth with 3,224 points.
Pompey had the best toss of the group with a heave of 34.45 meters in the javelin, while adding a distance of 4.58 meters in the long jump and a time of 2:45.92 in the 800.
Meyer jumped 4.91 meters in the long, threw 23.66 meters in the javelin and ran a 2:47.19 800. Agnew had a leap of 4.46 meters in the long, a distance of 21.45 meters in the javelin and clocked a 2:45.71 800.
Alfred University senior
Chelsea Hall broke her own school record en route to placing third. Hall finished with 3,815 points to shatter the school record of 3,672 points she set as a sophomore at the 2012 ECAC outdoor track and field championships.
On Monday's second day of competition, Hall had a long jump of 5.00 meters; a javelin throw of 29.07 meters; and ran the 800 meters in 2:37.86. On Sunday's opening day, Hall ran the 100-meter hurdles in 16.32 seconds (second-best among the field); posted a 1.42-meter long jump and 7.89-meter shot put; and ran the 200-meter dash in 28.43 seconds.
Hall's performances in the high jump, long jump and javelin throw all represented personal bests.
Allison Corretore of the St. John Fisher College women's track and field team set a new program-best in the heptathlon on Monday as the freshman wrapped up the two-day. Corretore placed fourth overall in the seven-event heptathlon with a total of 3,745 points. The East Amherst native currently ranks second among all freshmen and is 11th on the ECAC list.
Nazareth freshman
Kelsey Hill placed ninth. Hill totaled 2,919 points after completing seven events to place ninth among 10 entries. Her best perfomances were sixth-place finishes in the shot put (7.90 meters = 25 feet, 11 inches) and the 800-meter run (2:45.84). She finished eighth in the long jump (14 feet, 8 3/4 inches), ninth in the high jump (4 feet, 3 inches), 100-meter hurdles (:18.44) and the javelin (52 feet, 5 inches) and 10th in the 200-meter dash (:29.41).
