Live Coverage and Quick Facts on E8 Men's Lacrosse Tournament
The 2014 Empire 8 Athletic Conference (E8) Men's Lacrosse Tournament is set to start in less than 24 hours, with four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship. The playoffs begin Wednesday, April 30 with two semifinal matches and the Championship will take place on Saturday, May 3 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.

Before the action begins, here are some quick facts you should know about the conference tournament. (
*Quick facts will be based on the current tournament format years 2004-2014).
The Empire 8 will employ a four team tournament format for the 11
th straight year. Prior to the 2004 tournament, the E8 champion was determined based on the regular season finish.
Three of the four teams that qualified for the 2013 E8 Tournament return again this season.
The only time the tournament has played out according to seeding was in 2012.
The #1 seed is 7-3 in the semifinal game of the tournament. #2 seed (6-4), #3 seed (4-6), #4 seed (3-7).
The #1 seed has won the conference championship four times (2008, 2011, 2012, 2013).
The #2 seed has won the title four times (2004, 2006, 2007, 2010)
The #3 seed has never won the conference title.
The #4 seed has won the title twice (2005 and 2009).
2014 marks the seventh time Ithaca will serve as the number one seed, and the first time since the 2009 season.
Ithaca returns to the tournament as the only team to make an appearance in each of the conference’s 10 tournaments.
Ithaca is 1-6 in the title game.
Fisher is making its seventh appearnance in the E8 Tournament.
This year marks the first time the Cardinals have been seeded No. 2 (2010 they were seeded No. 1).
The Cardinals have advanced to the championship game once, which was in 2009 and they lost to Nazareth 9-4.
The Golden Flyers have made the postseason every year but one (2008).
Nazareth has played in the championship game six times and won on five occassions.
Stevens has qualified for the tournament five times since joining the E8 in 2007-08 (the Ducks missed the 2010 tournament).
Stevens has advanced to the title game once (2012) and won its first men's lacrosse championship.
