Nazareth tops Alfred to clinch E8 playoff spot

ALFRED, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth defeated Alfred, 6-3, Tuesday in the final regular-season match in men's tennis as the Golden Flyers clinched the fourth seed for this weekend's Empire 8 Conference Tournament at Nazareth.
The Golden Flyers won four of the six singles matches to defeat the Saxons and to improve to 4-3 in conference play and 5-12 overall. Alfred is 2-5 in the Empire 8 and 11-10 overall.

Nick Lord grinded out a three-set triumph at fourth singles and teamed with freshman
Christian Bryant for an 8-4 win at second doubles. Lord dropped the first set in singles before rallying to win 6-3, 6-3. Senior
Erik Manske needed to win a tiebreaker to take his first set at second singles 7-6. He then took the second set 6-2. Bryant and sophomore
Brian Rosiek were straight set winners at sixth and fifth singles respectively.
Manske helped earn a point at first doubles by teaming with sophomore
Tyler Williams for an 8-4 win.
