STEVENS
The Stevens Institute of Technology softball team outscored St. Joseph's College 20-3 in a windy, Tuesday doubleheader sweep. Stevens took game one 9-0 before finished the evening with an 11-3 win in game two.

The Ducks have now won 14 of 15 as their record jumped to 19-5. The losses dropped St. Joseph's to 16-10.

Stevens 9, St. Joseph's 0
The Ducks scored early against St. Joseph's freshman starter Amanda Eremita with four runs in the first. Senior Danielle DeFeo and sophomore Gavriella Risman-Jones hit back-back singles to lead-off the game before junior Jamie DeGennaro singled-home DeFeo to give Stevens an early 1-0 lead.

After DeGennaro stole second, freshman Jessica Rees singled to score Risman-Jones to add one more, followed by freshman Emily Sellitti reaching on an error at first to score DeGennaro. Sophomore Sydney Spitz capped the rally with an RBI groundout to third.

Senior pitcher Kayla Berardi worked around a one-out single in the second, allowing Stevens to add to its lead in the bottom of the inning when DeFeo singled to score freshman Kelly Klewicki. Both teams traded zeroes in the third, but Stevens broke the game open in the fourth.

With one run already in, DeGennaro singled to right to score DeFeo before Rees smashed a line-drive home run to center to add two more, and give Stevens a 9-0 lead. The blast was the first of Rees' career.

Berardi put an exclamation point on the victory by striking out the side in the fifth to end the game, the first of which was No. 400 of her career. With the win, Berardi moved to 9-3 and lowered her ERA 1.16. Rees led the Ducks offensively with three hits and three RBIs, while DeGennaro also made her presence known with two hits and two RBIs.

Stevens 11, St. Joseph's 3
Stevens wasted no time in getting its offense started, scoring six runs off seven hits in the first. With DeFeo and Risman-Jones in scoring position to start the game, DeGennaro singled up the middle to score DeFeo. Rees continued the rally with a triple to right to score two more, followed by Sellitti's first career home run to extend the lead to five.

Junior Stephanie Senkevich singled to right to give Stevens its sixth run of the inning.

St Joseph's came back though in the second, cutting the lead to four with RBI singles from sophomores Mallory McClafferty and Lindsey Corriss.

Stevens would answer in the bottom of the inning when Rees' sacrifice fly scored Risman-Jones, before adding another in the fourth off a Sellitti RBI single to score DeGennaro.

St. Joseph's put up one more run in the fifth off junior Julianne Tierney's home run, but Stevens would end the game with three in the seventh. With the bases-loaded and nobody out, DeGennaro singled to short for the ninth run of the game. Rees ended it for good with a sacrifice fly, scoring both Risman-Jones and DeFeo, giving Stevens a five inning, run-rule shortened win.

With the win, junior pitcher Brianna Sandone moved to 9-3. Offensively, Rees led all hitters with five RBIs while Sellitti added 3 and DeGennaro two. DeFeo and Risman-Jones set the table at the top of the order with three hits a-piece and five total runs scored.

ITHACA v HOUGHTON
The Ithaca College softball team took two games from visiting Houghton Tuesday night, sweeping the Highlanders with 6-0 and 9-1 victories at Kostrinsky Field. The Bombers were originally scheduled to play Houghton at the end of March, but the games were postponed due to inclement weather. The sweep pushes the Bombers record to 13-5 overall, while Houghton falls to 0-20.

Game 1: Ithaca 6, Houghton 0
Senior Sam Bender picked up the win in game one, shutting out the Highlanders and recording six strikeouts in the complete game victory. Sophomore Casey Gavin recorded a RBI and paced the Bombers with three hits in three at bats, including a double. Freshman Jessie Fleck also had multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI.

Ithaca struck first in the bottom of the second, as sophomore Erin McQuillan hit a sacrifice fly with runners at the corners to give Ithaca the 1-0 advantage. The Bombers scored again in the following frame on a Houghton error, putting the Bombers up 2-0.

Ithaca did most of its damage in the fifth inning, scoring three runs on four hits. Fleck started the scoring, bringing home junior Francesca Busa on a single to right field. Senior Sydney Folk hit a single to put runners at the corners, before junior Monica Capolongo hit a sacrifice bunt to bring home the fourth Bomber run of the game. Gavin capped the inning with a single through the second base side, pushing Ithaca's lead to 5-0.

The Bombers added one more run in the sixth, giving Ithaca the 6-0 advantage. Bender did the rest in the circle, holding the Highlanders scoreless to give the Bombers a 6-0 win.

Game 2: Ithaca 9, Houghton 1
Sophomore Allison Macari earned the win in game two. She allowed just one earned run and picked up seven strikeouts in 7.0 innings of play. Gavin, Folk and Fleck all picked up multiple hits in game two, with Folk recording two doubles to lead the Bombers in extra-base hits. Folk and Gavin tied for the team lead with two RBI.

Houghton picked up the first run of the ball game, crossing home plate once on two hits in the top of the first inning.

Ithaca responded with a monstrous bottom of the frame, scoring four runs on three hits. After reaching base due to an error in the outfield to open the inning, Busa moved to third on a passed ball. Fleck sent a double to right field in the following at bat, bringing Busa home to tie the game. After another Bomber reached base, Folk crushed a double to right field, scoring two more Ithaca runs. Folk scored on a wild pitch later in the frame, giving Ithaca the 4-1 lead.

The Bombers went up 7-1 in the fourth, scoring three runs on two hits and two errors before ending it two innings later. Ithaca finished off the Highlanders in the bottom of the sixth, as Gavin hit a shot to left field with two Bombers on base. Gavin's single scored both runners safely, giving Ithaca the 9-1 win.
