Bourque Wins In Singles In Loss to New Paltz

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 9, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team concluded their 2013-14 season on Wednesday with a 6-3 loss to SUNY New Paltz on the Stevens tennis courts.
The win places the Stevens record at 8-8 on the season, while New Paltz moved to 11-7.
The Ducks jumped out to 2-1 lead thanks to two convincing doubles victories. At. No. 1, junior
Jessica Bourque and senior
Lisa Tessitore beat junior Devin Tracy and senior Paige Munroe 8-3, to go along with a win at No. 3 for freshman
Allie Masciana and sophomore
Julia Guignard by the same score. New Paltz salvaged a point at No. 2 with an 8-3 victory.
Stevens extended their lead with Bourque's 6-2, 6-1 win at first singles over freshman Olivia Ammirati, but New Paltz rallied to take the final five matches. Sophomore Laura Tierney stared the streak with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 over Guignard, followed by a win at second singles for Munroe over junior
Danielle Stewart.
After taking the next two points at fourth and third singles, New Paltz ended the match with a come-back win at No. 6 for sophomore Allie Starke over freshman
Jillian Morneau, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3.
