Athletes Compete at Last Chance Meet

ITHACA
The Ithaca College women's track & field team snapped the 4x100-meter school record and hit 12 ECAC qualifiers, six on the track and six in the field, Saturday at the Oneonta May Meet. Ithaca won five events.
 
Ithaca's team of sophomores Lizzi Dowling and Eliza Dewart, junior Harmony Graves and sophomore Sarah Werner won the 4x100 in 48.56 setting a new school record. Two previous Bomber relays had owned the record of 48.58.
 
Claiming gold in the 100- and 200-meter dashes Werner and Graves raced to finishes of 12.56 and 25.59, respectively.
 
Graves teamed with sophomore Christine Kelly, Dewart and freshman Colleen Smith for a 3:55.81 finish in the 4x400 to place second.
 
Two Bombers finished as runners-up in the 100 and 400 hurdles. Junior Christine Benway finished the 100 hurdles in 15.44 and classmate Leigh Martino crossed the finish line of the 400 hurdles in 1:05.57.
 
Freshman Brandy Smith won the discus with a toss of 36.92 meters and senior Elaine Abdulky won the hammer with a throw of 46.08 meters.
 
Junior Emilia Scheemaker placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.68 meters.
 
Freshman Natalie Meyer cleared 1.58 meters in the high jump, good for third.
 
Sophomore Alex Rechen and senior Shannon Meehan finished three-four in the pole vault with clears of 3.42 and 3.27 meters, respectively.

NAZARETH
Selected athletes from Nazareth's men's and women's track and field team competed over the weekend at separate meets. Junior Hannah Brackley and sophomore Gabrielle LeBihan each competed at Friday's Gator Invitational at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. Junior Michaela Gildemeyer competed Saturday at the University of Albany's Purple and Gold Last Chance Meet.

Brackley finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of :58.07, while Lebihan was seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:25.25. 

At Albany, Gildemeyer was fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.67.

ST. JOHN FISHER
The St. John Fisher College women's track and field team took part in the ninth annual Gator Invitational on Friday at Alleghany College in Meadville, PA.
 
Paige Willson placed second in the shot put after once again breaking her own record with a throw of 12.70 meters.  Fellow throwers Taylor Youngkrans and Joanna Vassiliouperformed well in the hammer throw, earning seventh and ninth place finishes, respectively. 
 
Danyelle Redmond claimed 10th place overall and a new personal-best in the pole vault after clearing 3.10 meters, while Allison Corretore also wrapped up a 10th place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.71 meters.
 
Alyssa Mountain made the finals in the discus, placing 11th with a mark of 32 meters.
 
On the track, Melissa Vaughn missed qualifying for ECACs by only .03 of a second, but set a new school record as the Orchard Park native earned a fourth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.83.  Corretore earned a sixth place finish in the same event.
 
Ronni Ehlers ran the second-fastest time ever recorded in program history in the 400 meter hurdles on Friday.  The freshman missed setting a new school record by .7, finishing in sixth place with a mark of 1:08.99.
 
Ehlers was also part of the 4x400 relay team alongside Nicoletta LattucaMorgan Mastin and Chelsea Cleveland that placed fourth after crossing the finish line with a time of 51.84.
 
Cleveland also earned an 11th place finish in the 200 meter dash, while Sydney Saccone and Kaitlin Rizzo finished 14th and 15th, respectively.  Mastin turned in a strong performance in the 400 meter dash as well, finishing eighth overall.

STEVENS
Sophomore Gladys Njoku (Cedar Grove, N.J.) set a new school record in the high jump with a mark of 1.71 meters (5' 7.25"). Njoku's performance is also fifth-best in Division III and broke the meet and facility records at Oneonta.

Senior Tiffany Evangelou (Fair View, N.J.) was also a first place athlete in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.31 seconds.

Fellow senior Ashley Princiotta (Manalapan, N.J.) came in second overall in the 5K with a time of 19:19.86, while sophomore Amira Dardir (Jersey City, N.J.) was a runner-up to Njoku in the high jump at 1.63 meters (5' 4.25"). Freshman Victoria Taibe (Middle Village, N.Y.) also took second in the shot put with a mark of 11.49 meters (37' 8.5").

Dardir ran a time of 15:82 seconds in the 100 hurdles to cross the line in third. Evangelou notched two fourth place finishes in the long and triple jumps with distances of 4.92 meters (16' 1.75") and 10.48 meters (34' 4.75").

Njoku rounded out the top performers with a mark of 4.88 meters (16' 0.25") in the long jump which was sixth in the event.


UTICA
Sarah Wiatr placed third in the triple with a leap of 11.37 meters at the UAlbany Meet and currently is 15th on the NCAA DIII Outdoor Qualifying List.  

Senior Katie Day (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) hurdled to a second place finish in the 400 with a time of 1:08.00 while classmate Shane Ruffing placed third in the 110 with a time of 15.12 meters.

Senior Anastasia Bowden (Monticello, NY/Monticello) registered a watch of 57.78 in the 400 meter dash, also qualifying for ECAC post-season competition. Bowden also placed sixth behind freshman Brenna Stewart (Southborough, MA/Algonquin) in the 200 meter dash who clocked a 26.87.
