The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's golf team currently sits in a three-way tie for ninth place after shooting a combined score of 295 (+7) in the opening round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship.  The No. 8 Cardinals were one of 20 teams to play the nearly 7,000 yard par 72 West Course.

The current leader, Schreiner University (-3), who alongside Methodist University (-2), were the only teams to shoot below par on the day.

Thad Wier and Chris Blyth fired the low rounds for Fisher as each recorded an opening-round 73 (+1) placing them in a tie for 32nd place.  Ryan McGinnis is currently tied for 47th after shooting a pair of birdies on the back nine to bring his opening round score to two over (74).  Freshman Hogan Cuny also played well on Tuesday, shooting a 75 (+3) – good for a tie for 47th.

The Cardinals will tee off beginning at 12:45 on Wednesday at the East Course with the first round of cuts to be made at the end of the day.
