Eight Named to IWLCA All-Region

Eight Empire 8 student-athletes have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's All-Empire Region Teams


First Team - Empire Region
Ally Runyon, Ithaca: A two-time Empire 8 Player of the Week, Runyon led the Bombers with 64 points on a team-best 56 goals and eight assists. Playing and starting 17 of the Bombers' games, Runyon added a squad-high 35 ground balls to go with 33 draws and 10 caused turnovers.

Taylor Hughes, St. John Fisher: Hughes led Fisher with 65 points.  Hughes will conclude her career in a Fisher uniform as the most prolific scorer in program history.  She ranks first all-time in goals (217), assists (87) and points (304), while ranking second in ground balls and draw controls.

Megan Kane, Utica: She led the team with a career-high 45 goals on the season.  Her 56 points were also a team-best.  Kane tallied at least one goal in 15-of-16 games this season and had a goal-scoring streak that lasted 13 games.  She is now tied for fifth all-time in career goals (101) at UC.


Second Team - Empire Region
Molly Fischer, Ithaca: Ranking fourth on the team with 37 points, Fischer netted 32 goals and dished out five assists as a junior. She won 31 draws, gathered 16 ground balls and forced 10 turnovers.

Tara Prosak, Nazareth: Prosak, of Jamesville, N.Y. and a graduate of Jamesville-DeWitt High School, completed a strong four-year career for the Golden Flyers as she totaled 133 saves in 2014 for a .512 save percentage and a goals-against average of 8.66. She ranks second all-time with 517 saves. 

Sam Barton, St. John Fisher: She ranked second on the team with 41 goals and 54 total points.  Barton averaged nearly three ground balls per game this season.  The junior midfielder tallied three or more goals on nine separate occasions this season, which was the most on the team, as were her 43 ground balls.

Second Team - Boardwalk Region
Kara Rafferty, Stevens: The veteran played in and started 17 games for the Ducks, tallying 42 goals and dishing out a team-best 24 assists for 66 points. Rafferty notched one game-winning score, recorded 25 ground balls and 44 draw controls. She was second on the team in goals and points and first in assists. The Bayshore, N.Y. native also became the sixth player in Stevens women's lacrosse history to eclipse the 200-point plateau.
 
Erika WIlcox, Stevens: Wilcox had a superb sophomore season, leading the team in goals with 51 and points with 70. She finished with double-digits in all major statistical categories, including 19 assists, 16 caused turnovers, 30 ground balls and 49 draw controls – all of which were top-four on the squad. Wilcox tallied at least once in every game this season and had four or more points in 11-of-17 starts. She was second on the team in draw controls, playing a huge role on both the attacking and defensive ends of the field. 
 
 
The IWLCA has honored 256 student-athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the all-region teams. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-America teams to be announced on Monday, May 19. The IWLCA will honor the all-Americans at the IWLCA All-America banquet on Saturday, June 7 in King of Prussia, Pa.
