Cardinals Make Cut at NCAAs - Currently in Three-Way Tie For Sixth
Hogan Cuny fired a 71 (-1) as the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's golf team currently sits in a three-way tie for sixth place at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships in Greensboro, N.C. after a day-two total of 297 to bring its total score to 592 (+16) after 36 holes. Fisher's score is well within the cut marking the third-straight time the Cardinals will compete in the final rounds of the national tournament.
The No. 8 Cardinals are 14 strokes back of Schreiner University (+2), while Oglethorpe University is in second place (+6) at the mid-way point. The University of Rochester (+23) is the 15th and final team to make the cut.
After shooting nine-straight pars to begin his round, Cuny birdied the first and third holes on the front. The freshman would continue to climb the leader board after five consecutive pars before bogeying the ninth and final hole of the day. Cuny currently sits in a tie for 19th place after beginning the day in 62nd.
Thad Wier also had a strong second round, shooting one over on the day as the senior also occupies 19th place in the individual standings.
Chris Blyth and
Ryan McGinnis rounded out the scoring for Fisher, shooting +4 and +5, respectively.
The Cardinals will return to the course on Thursday morning beginning at 8:40 a.m. Fisher will be paired up with Methodist (+16) and Berry College (+17) for the third round.
