ITHACA, N.Y. -- CoSIDA announced its Academic All-District selections Thursday morning, naming junior diver
Matt Morrison to the District 3 NCAA Division III All-Academic Team
in the at-large category. The at-large selections recognize student-athletes who compete in sports not otherwise honored by the Academic All-America program. He is one of 10 DIII athletes in the district recognized on the first team and has advanced to the ballot for academic all-America honors.
Morrison competed in his second national championship and earned a pair of all-America finishes this season. He recorded a score of 479.65 in 1-meter diving to finish seventh overall and scored a 433.10 in 3-meter diving to rank 13th. Morrison was named Diver of the Meet at the Upper New York State/Empire 8 Championships for the second-straight year as he won both diving events. He set UNYSCSA/E8 and championship meet records in the 1-meter diving finals with a score of 582.30 and totaled a 3-meter diving score of 571.50.
Morrison, who carries a 3.68 GPA in music education, is the fifth student-athlete honored in men's swimming and diving program history. A total of 198 Ithaca athletes have earned academic all-district honors over the past 23 years.
