Field Hockey Senior Megan Traub Named Capital One Academic All-District

Megan Traub (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team was named Capital One Academic All-District, it was announced Friday by CoSIDA.
Traub will graduate from Stevens with a cumulative grade-point-average of approximately 3.60 as a Civil Engineering major. She was a four-year member of the Ducks' field hockey program, earning National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad honors four times.
Traub led Stevens to an Empire 8 Tournament title, an Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic crown, one NCAA Tournament appearance, three regular-season conference titles and postseason appearances in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
In 2013, Traub had nine goals, eight assists and 26 points from her central defender position, adding a pair of game-winning tallies to her line along with a pair of defensive saves.

The New Jersey native was a two-time NFHCA All-Region selection after remarkable 2012 and 2013 seasons, ranking as a conference leader in goals, assists and points. For her career, Traub cracks the top-five all-time in points (80) and assists (22), leaving the program on a 22-game regular-season Empire 8 winning streak.

Emily Beach (Hoboken, N.J.) said. "She was remarkable on the field, but more importantly was a great student and leader in all aspects of her career here at Stevens."
In addition, Traub is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and in the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering honor society. She was a voting rep in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in addition to being a two-year captain of the Stevens field hockey squad.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, COSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all championship sports.

Traub – along with the other Academic All-District awardees – will move on to consideration for Academic All-America which will be released on June 3, 2014. At-Large Academic All-District teams are picked from sports such as field hockey, women's lacrosse, women's bowling, women's crew, women's golf, women's gymnastics, women's tennis, women's water polo, women's swimming, women's ice hockey, women's skiing and women's rifle.
