Professor Wenmouth Williams was honored for his years of service as Ithaca College's Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) and Empire 8 FAR Chair.  Williams has announced his retirement from Ithaca as a professor and chair of Media Arts, Sciences and Studies.

"Wenmouth has been a tremendous resource both at Ithaca College and within Empire 8," said Empire 8 Commissioner Chuck Mitrano. "He has always gone above and beyond to assist new conference FAR's and provide the insight of faculty on NCAA and conference issues. His service is greatly appreciated."

As Faculty Athletics Representative, Williams served as an advocate on behalf of the student-athletes to ensure well-being, worked with Athletic Administrators to enhance the student experience and assisted in ensuring the academic integrity of the athletic program.

As the FAR Chair, Williams served as the liaison between Ithaca and the E8 on issues regarding rules compliance activities, new developments at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and activities related to E8 membership.

Williams received his bachelor’s degree in speech in 1969 from Bowling Green University. He went on to earn his M.S in 1970 and a Ph. D in 1974, both from Florida State University. Prior to coming to Ithaca as a faculty member, he was a professor at Illinois State University and the University of Hartford. He has had numerous articles published and been active in research and convention papers throughout his career.
