CLAREMONT, Calif. (May 21, 2014) – Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis sophomore Matthew Heinrich was awarded the No. 22 seed in this week's NCAA Individual Championships, and will take-on No. 21 Ross Putterman from Washington University, St. Louis.

Heinrich is the first tennis player in Stevens history to be selected for the four-day championship which is taking place at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center on the campus of the Claremont-Mudd Scripps Colleges.

Heinrich, currently ranked No. 7 in the Northeast, led Stevens with a 20-4 singles record this spring en-route to being named Empire 8 Player of the Year, and first-team all-conference for the second-straight year. Three of Heinrich's four losses came to opponents who are also competing in the individual championships, and the sophomore is currently riding an 11-match win-streak.

Heinrich's match time has still yet to be determined, and it will be posed to stevensducks.com as soon as the announcement is made. To follow Heinrich during his run, visit the championship site here.
