Sophomore Matthew Heinrich of the Stevens Institute of Technology tennis program was named to the College Sports Information Directors of American Academic All-District Team last week.

Heinrich was the Stevens singles-ace this past spring, accruing a team-best 20-4 record to go along with 16 doubles wins. The sophomore was also named first-team all-conference and conference player of the year for the second straight year. Heinrich made even more history this year with his selection into the NCAA Individual Championships, the first Stevens tennis player to be selected to play in the tournament. In the classroom, Heinrich maintains a 4.0 GPA as a mechanical engineering major.

He is now eligible for Academic All-American status which will be announced in the coming weeks.
