TOWSON, Md. – CoSIDA released its Academic All-America Team Tuesday. Ithaca senior Sydney Folk earned first team honors, marking the first time she has been named an academic all-American.

Folk, who holds a 4.0 GPA in clinical health studies, was one of 11 athletes to earn first team honors. She was the only member of the first team to carry a 4.0 GPA, and one of only three players in 33 total selections to have a perfect grade point average.

Folk was named to the NFCA All-Northeast Region First Team for the second time in her career earlier this month, marking her third straight all-region selection. A two-time Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year, Folk helped lead the Bombers to the 2014 Empire 8 title. A starter at third base, Folk led the Bombers with a .393 batting average in 29 starts. She led Ithaca with 11 doubles, five home runs, 32 RBI, 61 total bases, a .685 slugging percentage and a .465 on-base percentage.

Folk is 11th player in Ithaca program history to be named an academic all-American, and just the fourth Bomber to earn first team honors. In total, 85 Ithaca College athletes have been named academic all-Americans since 1970.
